Biography & Education
Gautam J. Desai, DO, FACOFP dist. is the professor, division of primary care at Kansas City University, where he also serves as director, honors track in global medicine. Dr. Desai received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Residency as well as an Internship in Osteopathic Family Medicine at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications in print, textbooks, encyclopedias, and digital publications, Dr. Desai has presented nationally and internationally on many topics related to medical education and Osteopathic Manual Medicine. Dr. Desai was elected to the ACOFP Board of Governors in 2016 and has served on many committees for the AOA and ACOFP, including the AOA's Council on CME, the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiner's Clinical Skills Testing Advisory Committee and the NBOME’s SOAP Note Fabrication Subcommittee. He has also served as the Principal Investigator for many grants – including the Achieving Diversity in Medicine and Dentistry Grant and the Educational Development for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Grant and is a Past President of the DOCARE International Board of Trustees.
