Get involved with a Committee

Joining a national student committee is a chance for you to foster both professional and personal connections, refine your leadership abilities, and contribute to the mission of the Student Association of the ACOFP.

Applications are open from April to June for students interested in serving a one-year term on committees such as Education, Membership Recruitment, Public Relations, or Resolutions within the Student Association of the ACOFP.

What are committees responsible for?

Education Committee: The mission and objectives of the Education Committee are to engage students and promote advancing education by further exploring topics about osteopathic family medicine, researching areas that are of interest to the general student membership, and publishing material on these topics through ACOFP.

Membership Recruitment Committee: The mission and objectives of the Membership Recruitment Committee are to support local chapter leadership with membership recruitment incentives, create and share resources for chapter membership recruitment activities, and serve as a resource for chapters and monitoring the recruitment activities.

Public Relations Committee: The mission and objectives of the Public Relations Committee are to develop campaigns to promote student involvement through ACOFP channels of public communication, highlighting student and chapter engagement and osteopathic family medicine.

Resolutions Committee: The mission and objectives of the Resolutions Committee are to act as a voice for osteopathic medical students by researching, developing, and submitting resolutions to the Congress of Delegates on topics important to student members and osteopathic family medicine.

"Participating in the ACOFP Congress of Delegates as a medical student is an incredible venture into the world of organized medicine and policy making. Regardless of what your future practice looks like, public policy is always going to influence patient outcomes and how we practice medicine. Even as a student, attending the Congress gives you an opportunity to use your voice to affect positive change and meet peers and physician leaders in advocacy from across the country.”
Fariya Fatima, OMS-IV

Student committee applications are currently closed and will open in May 2025. If you are interested in volunteering, contact us at students@acofp.org.

National Student Executive Board

Get Involved with ACOFP's Governance

National Student Executive Board (NSEB)

The NSEB comprises the president, vice president, secretary, parliamentarian, and new chapter outreach director, each serving a one-year term. Board members act as liaisons to student chapters, reviewing reports, awarding points, and planning programming. Detailed information is available in the Constitution and Bylaws

NSEB elections are held virtually during the ACOFP Annual Convention. Interested candidates must submit the required information and record a video speech for current student chapter presidents, who review the submissions and cast their votes.

Student Governor of the ACOFP Board of Governors

The ACOFP Board of Governors seeks to represent the diversity of its members by selecting a student leader interested in family medicine to act as the representative voice for the student membership. Previous volunteer experience is required.
