ACOFP Helps You
Choose the Right Residency Program
ACOFP offers numerous resources to help you learn about family medicine and choose the right residency program.
The ACOFP Resident Council is a group of family medicine residents who are available to offer guidance and advice for your preparation and transition from medical school to residency.
What can you do now to prepare?
Let us ease some of the stress of your board certification by taking advantage of all the support ACOFP offers. Plan ahead to ensure you take the certification path that is right for you.
The American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) and the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) are similar. They both fulfill all ACGME requirements and both pathways show statistically similar data outcomes. However, there are some key differences to be aware of that will be helpful to you to consider ahead of residency.
First, if you are a fourth year, review this letter and share with your Program Director when you begin your residency.
