As physicians, you dedicate your lives to helping patients. ACOFP members  are facing an impending Medicare physician payment cut on January 1, 2025, that needs your attention.  We need you to act now to help ensure that osteopathic family physicians can continue treating patients across the country.

The Looming Physician Payment Crisis

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a 2.83 percent cut in physician reimbursement rates starting January 1, 2025. This reduction, coupled with years of stagnant payments that have not kept pace with rising costs, threatens the stability of osteopathic family practices and, ultimately, patient care.

A Potential Legislative Solution

Representatives Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) have introduced H.R. 10073, the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act. This legislation would provide a 4.73 percent payment update starting in 2025. This update would eliminate the impending 2.83 percent payment cut and instead provide a 1.93 percent increase for Medicare physician payments.
