ACOFP's
Legislative Body
The ACOFP Congress of Delegates serves as the legislative body of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), comprising appointed representatives from each affiliate or state society. This diverse assembly plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the organization through its decision-making processes.
Each spring, during the ACOFP Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars, the Congress convenes to deliberate on critical issues, set policies, and chart the course for the future of osteopathic family medicine. One of its key responsibilities is electing new officers to the ACOFP Board of Governors, which helps ensure that the leadership reflects the needs and perspectives of its membership. By fostering robust governance and active member participation, the Congress of Delegates keeps ACOFP dynamic and responsive to the interests of osteopathic family physicians and the patients they serve.
Each affiliate society is required to send recommendations naming its delegates and alternate delegates to the ACOFP Executive Director at least 30 days before the first day of the Congress of Delegates annual meeting. The recommendations must be made in writing.
